The New Yorker: Why the revolution will not be tweeted

I liked the sit-in story because it shows that before social media, events and things could still take place, it was just by word of mouth and may take a little bit longer for people to learn of it. In the past few years, social media sites like Facebook and Twitter have made it easier to keep others informed. News that happens around the world can be shared almost instantaneously whereas several years ago you would have to wait for a television news broadcast or website to publish a story about it. It would be interesting to see how events, like the sit-ins, with no social media would have played out had they had it at the time.
